RIP Sweet Kissy Boy

Today my husband lost is best friend, his 10 year old black lab Morgan. Have you ever read the book or seen the movie Marley & Me? That was Morgan, a crazy, naughty, eating machine. He was Tim's constant companion. The moment he walked in the door from work Morgan's face would light up. He would go running to the door jumping up and down. Morgan was always the first to be greeted by Tim, everyone else could wait. Morgan was a little goofy too. I've never meet a lab before that didn't like to be outside. If it wasn't climate controlled he didn't want anything to do with it. He also wouldn't jump into the water. Loved to swim, just wouldn't jump from a dock like most Labs. He loved FOOD! Like most flabradores he had a one track mind. He would do anything for food. He once got on the stove and pulled and entire meatloaf still hot from the oven down and ate the whole thing in seconds. It was pretty impressive. He also was addicted to raw hide. He got one after dinner every night like clockwork. If you ran out you may as well get in the car and go to the store. He wasn't going to let you have any rest until he got one.

To make a long story short, he started having heart problems. Wednesday he started the bad cough again so we took him to the vet on Thursday. The vet wanted to do a belly tap but found a large tumor in his spleen instead. They sent him home with pain meds. and instructions to give him anything he wanted and to keep him comfortable. By last night his belly was filling with fluid and he was in a constant pant. Tim took him in first thing this morning.
He will be greatly missed. He was how my husband and I meet (walking our dogs). He was our child before children. He was our Kissy Boy, our Morgey McButter, our Buddy. Rest in peace sweet Kissy, we will miss your puddle of drool on the floor next to the dinner table, your soft triangles (ears), and the unbelievable amount of hair I have cleaned up over the years.

Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday Mom

This card is for the Mystery Monday challenge at Club Anya. I used the top notes die from SU for the background DP. I then painted the orange oval with acrylic paint and stamped it with my bat paisley stamp. The ink on top of the paint did bleed. Then I added all the embellishments and colored my image with color pencil and gamsol.

Happy Birthday to my mom. Yes, she was born on all hallows eve. She can cackle just like a witch. I won't tell you what else she does like a witch. Just Kidding

Autumn Hike

No stamping today. We did some hiking up to a bluff in Trout Creek, MN. When I say up a bluff, I mean strait up the side of a bluff. I won't be able to bend my knees tomorrow. The autumn colors were great. We also stopped in Winona for a quick hike and found this little cave in the side of a bluff. There is a great view of the sweetest little college town (Winona State) you've ever seen. It's right on the river, very home town USA feel. Tomorrow should be rainy and cold so maybe I will get some stamping done then. I do still have to go buy a pumpkin. I would love to get a few white or green pumpkins for the porch. I do have my candy purchased. That is if I can keep everyone (including myself) out of it until next weekend. I should buy candy we don't like so the temptation isn't there. But chocolate is what life is about, right?

ATC Club Meeting & Donna's Awesome Art

I hosted our monthly ATC club meeting this month. We always have a great time when we get together. I wanted to keep the project informal so we could chat while making it.
Here are everyones great creations.
These beautiful pieces of art are by my friend Donna. She needs to open an Etsy store because her work is out of this world. The two smaller girls are covered in beeswax. It makes such a cool effect. Go check her blog out here.

To my fellow Gleeks: What did you think of this weeks show? Did you almost die when he sang Sweet Caroline? I love this show, I actually watch the songs a second time. Aren't DVR's the best?

Halloween Peeps Box

I'm back, I think. In for another busy week, but I wanted to post this Peep box I made for my ATC club project that I am hosting this month. Just wrap the box (you need paper at least 13" long), cut a hole and decorate. I used my Nestibilities to make the frame. It's a fun little project and gift.

To officially kick-start the new Team Anya's term, they are doing a "NEW BEGINNINGS" Challenge. Here are the details:RULES: Create a card, Layout, or 3D project using an ANYA or IAN stamp that symbolizes or reminds you of a "New Beginning".
I was trying to come up with something a little different. I figured everyone would think of weddings or babies. My friend and I were making up funny scenarios and this popped in my head. I found the car template at I had to have it enlarge at my office supply store. I colored it with Copics. Once assembled I cut a hole for Anya to be popping out of her sunroof, drink in hand. I added the banner and Anya was ready to party.

Halloween ATC

Here's a little sneak peek of my Oct. ATC club card. I don't usually do the vintage look, but when I saw these bingo cards I had to give it a try. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to color my image.

"Fall" in Minnesota

Sorry I've been a absent blogger. It's been a crazy weekend and this week isn't going to get any better. My brother-in-law came to visit for the weekend. Saturday was spent at a letterboxing event. It was all of 29 degrees all day. I didn't get the feeling back in my feet until Sunday. Then on Sunday I went with my stamp club friends to the Rubber Stamp Expo. I've never been on a Sunday so it was interesting to see the difference from Sat. to Sun. It was not crowded and very quite. I found some interesting new goodies to try. Today I woke up to snow. Apparently we aren't going to have a fall this year, just go straight to winter. Have I mentioned that I HATE snow. I know I live in the wrong place, but it wasn't by my choice. If it were up to me I would be sitting in Savannah. My entire family (6 people) are coming this week for a visit. It's going to look like Jonestown at my house, bodies everywhere. I hope to get a few things posted this week, but you never know how it will all work out. In the meantime enjoy my snow.

A little ATC Sneak Peek

This is for my ATC clubs Sept. meeting that was cancelled. You may remember my first day of school card back in Sept. The theme was education so I shrank down my digi to ATC size. The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil and they now have one with a little girl rabbit (can you exchange a digi?).

Got Anya?

I was looking at a new magazine I had just received when I saw this Got Milk? ad. Who do you think Heidi Klum looks like? Maybe a certain Miss Anya? Well you know me, I had to give it a try.

The sketch is from the Anyone for Anya sketch #2 challenge. So what do you think of Anya Klum? And did you check out those shoes Heidi is wearing in the real picture? BANANAS!!! Sorry, I've been watching to much Rachel Zoe. And while I'm blabbering incoherently, Did you see Glee this week? I love that show, and put Kristin Chenoweth in it. Now that's BANANAS!

Poison Apples Anyone?

This card covers 2 challenges. I wanted to try to give my witch a true witch nose. I punched a hole for the nose and made a cone with green paper. If you look closely you will even see her wart. My witch has a basket of poison apples (like in Snow White). Would you eat an apple from such a cute witch?

First the Crazy 4 Challenges sketch challenge.

Second the Club Anya Mystery Monday Challenge.

1.) You MUST use Anya OR Ian (no Sprouts, H/G, etc.) on your card or project to qualify for this Club Anya challenge.

2.) You must use at least TWO punches (nesties, border punches, diecuts all count) on your project.

I used nesties and an apple punch as my 2.
