Bear with me.

Besides being sick with a sinus infection (Tis the season!) I am having some computer issues. I turned my poor ancient beast on last night and got nothing but a black screen. Next to cable the Internet is probably the 2ND most important piece of equipment in my house. I could live a few days without a washer or oven but not TV or the web. Keep in mind we just got our big TV (only 3 years old) fixed which cost almost as much as the TV. This caused major stress in our house due to my husband being in my space and not his man cave where he belongs (I say that in a loving way of course). So what's going to break next? It always happens in 3's. I wager something on the van since I just went over 30,000 miles. Anyway, I spent 4 hours restoring my computer last night. I had to reload every piece of software we had. I lost all my favorites on the Internet (AHHHHHHHH!). Thankfully I had just had the last 2 months worth of photos printed and saved to disc. I'm sure that more is missing (like my ITunes). We will just have to wait and see if my poor PC makes it or if this is the beginning of the end. If I go missing you know why.

The Case of the Curious Card III

It's that time again, The Case of the Curious Card over at The Greeting Farm. I decided to go with Miss Anya because I love her purse and wanted to use this sentiment. The sentiment was so large I decided to make a door that hides it behind Miss Anya. Her purse is also covered with crystal lacquer to give it that high shine look and make it pop. I used Club Anya's great face coloring tutorial and it worked perfectly.

The Pink Elephant is holding a color challenge with a great prize of stamps from my favorite company. The challenge was to use Pink, Green, & Yellow. I saw a layout like this in Paper Craft magazine and thought it was fun. Add Miss Anya and poof it became ab. fab. She's such a cutie. This was a fun yet simple card but I love the sweet spring colors. This is going to be a Mother's Day card (now I just have to find a gift).

Retail Therapy - Scrap and Stamp Sale

I went to an awesome scrap and stamp sale today! Aren't you jealous? I got to go to the pre-sale because I also had items in the sale (privilege to sellers). You should have seen the sea of stamps. My friend said she wanted to lay in them and roll around. I was there for over a hour and a half. I found some good stuff, some for me, some for ebay. I even found something my sister has wanted for a long time. (Hint: How much do you love me? Do you love me a latte?) If your in the Twin Cities area you should go check it out. You can get all the info. here. http://myhappyplace.typepad.com/my_happy_place/2009/04/huge-rubber-stamp-and-scrapbooking-sale.html

So with all my retail therapy today I thought this ATC was fitting. If your in Wendy's ATC swap and don't want to see, look away now. Yes, I know you still looked.

Sheetload of Cards Challenge

I just discovered Sheetload of Cards thanks to this The Greeting Farm challenge. Go check it out. I love how they show you how to make the most of a piece of paper. This was a fun sketch to work with.
I used Miss Anya for this card. She's such a sweet image. After coloring her with Copics I used crystal lacquer on the flowers to give them some shine. I scuffed everything with brown to give it a vintage feel. I love the was she turned out.

Letterboxing Journals

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days but I've been on the move. Dr.'s appointment, trip to the zoo, and letterboxing. That brings me to my project for today. These are two letterboxing journals I made for someone. So, What the H*%L is letterboxing? You should go check it out at http://www.atlasquest.com/ . It's a great way to spend time with the family and get some much needed exercise. Oh, and it involves my favorite thing STAMPS! My hubby is hooked. We spent most of the weekend walking in some great parks.

I made the journals from art sketch books that come 3X5. The cover comes off easily to decorate as you like. The lilacs are colored with Copics and the lighthouse with watercolor pencils. I did have them laminated at OfficeMax since they are used outside and have potential to be rained on. The lamination also gives the journal some stability for stamping on. I also made my first hand carved stamp. It defiantly takes practice, and the more basic the stamp the better.

Have a Hoppy Easter : )

Don't be a Square challenge

WHAT IS IT?We all know that the square or square-ish (rectangle) card is the most popular card around. But what about all the little non-squares? Today is the day where these little guys shine! So go head and think 'outside the box'.

It's challenge time over at The Greetings Farm blog again. This card gave me a good reason to use all my goodies in my "Asian" box. Yes, I actually have a box labeled "Asian". It's the OCD. I purchased the cards at a scrap sale a year or so ago. Geisha Anya was just the reason I needed to crack them open. I covered them with the paper you use for origami and matched my kimono colors from there. The belt is also origami paper. Her head and flower are popped up with foam tape. This was not my original idea, but after I screwed up the hair on my original but like the kimono I made it work. There are no mistakes, only opportunities to embellish. I colored a new face and cut the head off and popped it up, then added the popped flower for even more dimension. I few dots of stickles on the flower for shine, and voila!

More bunnies!

Yes, more bunnies! Are you sick of them yet? I promise something new tomorrow. Has Easter snuck up on anyone else? I just realized it's this Sunday. I have to get eggs and coloring. We still dye eggs even though Addison is allergic. Just because she can't eat them doesn't mean she shouldn't get to color them. She loves standing on the kitchen stool and "supervising" us with very explicit instructions. If you know her you understood that last sentence.

I made these for my 2 favorite little boys (and one for Addison) in the world. I know they are kind of girly, but the candy makes up for that. These are the little milk cartons of candy Target has in the $1 spot. I painted the tops with white paint then covered them in paper. The top border is a punched strip of paper as is the "ribbon" piece that is running through the slot punch. I punched a hole in the top and tied the ribbon on. The butterflies are popped up with glue dots. She is colored with Copics and fun flocked on all her white fuzzy parts.

Some exciting news and more bunnies.

So what's the exciting news!!! I had one of my cards featured on the CLUB ANYA BLOG!!!!!!!!!!!! Go check out all the creative cards everyone came up with. I guess this goes to show that my 3 year old has better ideas than I do. I will have to start asking her advise more often.

Now on to the bunnies. It seems my Wild Things bunny has been multiplying like; well, rabbits. I've been loving the spring colors. Especially when this is what is out your front door in the morning. Will spring ever come? It's true Minnesota has 4 seasons. Winter, Winter, Winter, & Summer. Anyway, back to the bunnies. If you are in my ATC Club don't peek if you can stop yourself. This was a special request by Tami for an Anya ATC. Hope you like it girl! Once again, I wish my camera was better at taking close ups. I don't think you get the true colors and detail with mine. You know, my hubby did just get new hiking boots. Maybe it's time to lay on some guilt about the camera again. I have a little guilt bank account I need to make a deposit in every once in awhile. ;)
I have more coming soon. My brother-in-law has been here for the past week so I have been doing a lot of crafting while the boys watch basketball. Check back soon.

Wild Things

This sweet little bunny is from the Wild Things set at The Greetings Farm. They are a smaller size than the regular Anya stamps and come with some cute sentiments. I made an ATC out of her first and had a few extra bunnies already colored so I made the cards. I'll show you the ATC later. The bunnies on the pattern paper are flocked and add a really nice effect to the card. The white eyelet border paper is from a Martha S. party decor set I got on clearance at Micheals for $2 last year. It came on a roll, and is for decorating a cake stand. Don't you love it?
