Ever have one of those cards?

Have you ever had one of those cards? You know, one that no matter what you do it doesn't look right. That's what happened to me today. Maybe my mojo is off, maybe it's a full moon tonight. Nothing was speaking to me on this one. Then on top of it all I realized I used a stamp that doesn't even qualify for the challenge I was making the card for. So I give up, time to move on. RIP poor sad card.

The sketch is from ESS #72 challenge. This was also for the Club Anya and Friends Monday Mania Monochromatic Challenge. I don't know if this qualifies as monochromatic or not. Pink is a shade of red, so is that monochromatic? Doesn't matter anyway since I used a Twinkle Tots stamp, which is not an approved stamp for CA&F challenges.

Stamps: TGF Lottie, Sentiment SU One Smart Cookie
DP: SU Summer Picnic, Prints Pack, Patterns Pack
Copic: E50, E51, E93, E25, E27, E29, R24, R27, R29, R81, R83, R85, R89

On a better note, we went for a hike this morning. A fellow hiker left us a message in the snow. It reads "Is it spring yet? Enjoy Winter" Funny that 34 feels warm to us. It was beautiful out and sunny. We walked about 2 miles with our puppy Bella. She had the most energy of all of us. Pea found a stick just her size and enjoyed our first hike of the year.

Wild Wednesday Get Well

A frigid day here in Minnesota. I'm so ready for spring and to see grass again. There is only so much snow one person can take. It's kind of a double edged sword, once it's nice enough to get outside my crafting time will get drastically cut. I've been trying to get a little scrapbooking in here and there, I'm so behind. I just started my June photos and feel like I will never get caught up again.

Today's card is for two challenges.
1.) Club Anya and Friends Wild Card Wednesday: emboss it - I embossed the red CS with a Cuttlebug folder and embossed using my Nesties small labels.
2.) Pile it On: Get Well

I wish you could see the embossing on the red CS better in the photo. I used Moroccan Screen because the design reminded me of the cross on her hat. Most of this card is "recycled" from a past project. I had extra bits a pieces left over and decided to use them when I saw the Pile It On challenge.

Butterflies Everywhere

Four challenges in one today. I came across this SEI DP while searching my stash for blue, grey, and cream for the Anya Ink challenge. So like in "When you give a mouse a cookie", then I needed a butterfly stamp. When I had my butterfly stamp, I needed a butterfly punch. So it ended up with butterflies everywhere.

1. Club Anya and Frieds Saturday Sketch Challenge

2. A4A - Something Different (I used grey ink to stamp with, and smooch on the wings)

3. Anya Ink - Blue, Grey, & Cream
4. Flutter by Wednesday - butterfly, fairy or angel with hearts (there are silver hearts on the wings)

Farm Fresh Friday Color Challenge/ C4C sketch (C4C25)

Two challenges in one today. First Farm Fresh Friday at The Greeting Farm. The challenge was to use CHOCOLATE, KRAFT, and GUAVA. Second, Crazy 4 Challenges sketch challenge. This card came together pretty fast for me. The colors worked well together and a sketch always speeds things up. I made this Sunday while watching The Breakfast Club on TV. Isn't crazy how you can watch a movie a million times but every time you see it on you watch it again? So that leads me to the question of the day. What movie(s) do watch every time you see it on? Mine would be Dirty Dancing, Fried Green Tomatoes, Steel Magnolias, Juno, Napoleon Dynamite, and any of the National Lampoons Vacation movies.

ALICE GETS GLAM: INSPIRATION CHALLENGE

Have you heard the curious news? A new challenge blog just started, Oh, Alice! For their very first challenge they want you to get glam. Just check out this awesome makeup kit that is your inspiration this week. I saw this ad a couple weeks ago and even had it torn out. Doesn't it scream pop up card? My hubby even pointed it out (and he never notices anything). When Jessica posted the first challenge and this was the inspiration I just about died. I took the challenge very literally, but you really could make anything Alice inspired. Let me know if you play along. I would love to see what you create.

I started my card with a Denami multi-tiered pop up card as my template. After covering it DP & CS, I stamped my images and colored and glittered them. The grass is a Martha punch and the frame on the mirror is from Making Memories. Lots of adhesive and pop dots later, and Alice is in an enchanted forest of mushrooms.
Update: I've been asked about the stamps. I borrowed these from my stamping friends. You can get similar ones on ebay, they come as sheets of rubber.

Wild Card Wednesday and a little Paper Piecing

This weeks Wild CardWednesday challenge at Club Anya and Friends was to use paper piecing. I lucked out this time. I designed this candy holder for my Valentines Greeting Farm class and never posted it. Some times it pays to procrastinate. After I punched the large circle in the holder I flipped the circle over and stamped Stella on the dotted side and cut out her clothes. Great way to use every scrap up.

Go Green

Kind of a funny story behind the flower placement on this card. I used my paper piercer to poke a hole for the faux ribbon in the corner and was putting it away when I poked the end of my thumb. I didn't think much off it until I was assembling the card and noticed a smudge on my sentiment. What's that? It looks red. I'm not using any red. Well as you may already guessed I was bleeding on my card. Who would think that stamping is such a dangerous hobby? So I added the flower in a strategic spot to cover my DNA sample. Have you ever had a bloody card? Each card I make truly does have a piece of me in it.

Vintage Laundry Fun

This weeks Farm Fresh Friday Challenge at The Greeting Farm blog is to go VINTAGE. I pulled out my vintage box to get an idea and saw these old laundry ads. Can you imagine having to cook starch? Those poor women, and I think my 8 to 10 loads a week are bad. As usual I combined a few challenges into one.

Hat ATC

The theme for my ATC club this month is hats and bonnets. This was a challenge. I really don't have any hat stamps, but had a picture in my mind of what I wanted. Well I didn't find the pretty spring bonnet I was looking for but I did have the Penny Black Zoophabet (H is for Hat). It was either this or Irish bowler hat. I stitched the rest of the word with my In Stitchz Heidi Lynn's Handwriting template. The DP is Cosmo Cricket and I added a couple MS punched butterflies with a little A Muse bling. It will be interesting to see what the other ladies come up with.

No Pink or Red Valentine

I've been a bad blogger the past few days. Thursday we attended my daughters first preschool Valentine's party. She had a lot of fun singing, dancing, playing a candy game, play doh and making heart cookies with cutters, coloring, making a picture frame, and a heart crown. Wow, I'm exhausted thinking about it. Friday night I was at a monthly shoebox swap. I hope to get in a little craft time this weekend. I need to get some ATC's for next weeks meeting ready. On a happy note, my Sweet Little Valentine card made the top 3 on the Anya Ink challenge blog. So soon you will see a new badge in my sidebar.

Today's card is for Club Anya and Friends Monday Mania challenge. The challenge was to make a Valentines Day card with NO pink or red. Once I found my paper with hearts that didn't have those colors I was set. The kraft and blue colors made me think of a more masculine cards so I inked up Edward. The sketch I used is from this weeks Eat Sleep Stamp challenge #70.

Shoebox Swap Card

This is for my Shoebox Swap group this Friday. Can you believe I didn't even use Copics? I stepped out of my box on this one. That's right, I used Prismacolor pencils. After my Greeting Farm class Tuesday night I needed a break from my beloved markers. Does anyone know what Stampin Up set this came from? The stamp is dated 1997. I got it at a craft yard sale and would love to know what other stamps came with it.

Snow, Snow, Snow, YUCK!

I'm sick of snow, sick of wearing boots everywhere, sick of dirty watery pools on my kitchen floor, and really sick of having to re shovel after the plow comes by.

This is our mailbox, well what you can see after the plow was done.
The next 2 pictures are for my family back in Indiana. Every time they visit they ask what the sticks on the fire hydrants are for. When we explained it's so we can find them in the snow they looked at us like we were nuts. Here's one that you can just see the top of it and the second all you see is the stick.

Super Anya ATC

This is what I did during the Super Bowl. Lots and lots of coloring. I have 2 C5 Copic markers and had to refill them both to get all the hair colored on 10 of these babies. The sketch is for Club Anya and Friends Saturday Sketch Challenge. I needed to make some ATC's so I used the sketch and killed 2 birds with one stone.
It's snowing like crazy here today. My class at Smudges is tomorrow night. I hope the roads don't stop people from coming. I hurt my elbow yesterday working out so I'm not looking forward to shoveling the driveway. I better get started. It takes a good 20 minutes just to get me, my 4 year old, and the puppy ready to go out in our snow gear. Send me some warm thoughts.

A Sweet Little Valentine

Super Bowl Sunday, Go Colts! I need to hurry up and make a ATC kit for myself to work on during the game. I only watch for the commercials. I whipped this one up this afternoon. My 4 year old has officially became my stamping buddy. If I'm in my loft, so is she. I am finally getting some use out of the "seconds images" I have. You know, when you stamp and part of the image doesn't come out right, or you bump the stamp. She gets her set of markers, stamps, and ink and gets to work. I have little purple finger print everywhere. She asked me to make her a card so I told her this one was for her. As soon as I had photographed it I gave it to her. She said "I need to fix one thing." She flipped it over wrote her name on the back and drew a picture. Then opened it up and glued big bling inside. You would have been proud of me, I didn't say a thing. I watched holding my breath as she upgraded my card. She is quite pleased with her work.
This is Mercy Kerins sketch for Farm Fresh Friday at The Greeting Farm. It's also my entry for Anyone 4 Anya's Good Enough to Eat Challenge. I thought the colors looked like strawberrys and cream. Also, Pile it On's Challenge To The One You Love, Creative Card Crew Valentine Challenge , Double Dutch Be My Valentine & Anya Ink's Valentines challenge. That's 6 challenges in one.

The Queen of Hearts

This weeks Club Anya and Friends Monday Mania Challenge was to make an easel card and use ribbon. I was looking in my basket of Valentines goodies and spotted my queen of hearts embossing folder from Cuttlebug. Well that planted the seed. I looked up what the Queens clothes looked like in the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland and got to altering Princess Anya. This is also my submission for Crazy 4 Challenges Valentine Challenge.

Wild Card Wednesday - Purple & Green

This weeks Wild Card Wednesday Challenge at Club Anya & Friends was to make a card using purple and green. I used the sketch from the Anya Ink challenge. This is also my entry for Flutter By Wednesday's challenge to use abutterfly, fairy or angel. If you haven't seen the new butterfly embosslits SU has in the spring mini, check them out. They are so cute and each have a different pattern.

Today was busy, the cable guy was here all morning, then I did our taxes while my DD was at school. You would think it wouldn't take so long with tax software but it took me a good 3 hours. At least its done now and I don't have to think about it. I also made the valentines for next weeks class party at school. My Greeting Farm class is next week so I need to tie up all my loose ends and get my instructions sheets printed. No rest for the wicked. See you back soon.

Strawberry Shortcake Goodie Box

I recently got to spend a fun girls night at Archivers for my birthday. I really had a good time and would love start doing this once a month. I so rarely get to have a crop night it was nice to relax chat and work on some little projects. I always have projects from Scrapfest sitting around begging to be finished. They work perfect for a crop night since everything is already together and coordinated, just grab your tools and go. Plus it's only $15 for the crop, food, drinks, snack, and scrapbook page project. It's a great girls night out.
I saw a box like this on someones blog about 2 years ago. Being a bad blogger I didn't record who's it was, sorry. My friend came to the rescue with this vintage Strawberry Shortcake stamp. I had all the goodies and hoped to keep the lid in theme. Addison is into Strawberry Shortcake so it was the perfect time to complete it. I plan to put this in her Valentine goodies. (Is that the 2nd time I said goodies? Must be my word of the day.)
