Going Green, and Black, and White, and Yellow ...

It's spring again, and along with the good weather comes less stamping time. I know I've been a bad blogger lately. I wish I could promise to be better but the next month already looks crazy. Every weekend is filled from now until sometime in June. That's what it's like when you live in MN, you have to make up for all the time your stuck in the house in the winter by doing everything in a few short months before it starts to snow again.

This card is for 3 challenges:

Oh, Alice CHAPTER 10: QUEEN of TARTS...

"On this the White Rabbit blew three blasts on the trumpet, and then unrolled the parchment scroll, and read as follows:

`The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts,
All on a summer day:
The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts,
And took them quite away!'

Uh ohhhhhhh...someone has stolen the Queen's Tarts! That's a no-no! We need to restore the sweetness back to Wonderland, don't you agree? That means it's time for a sweet treat here...or maybe a mushroom or two? I think I saw one floating around here that said "Eat Me" ;)

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to incorporate FOOD into this week's project! Everyone loves a little treat, right?

We have ANOTHER TREAT for you today at Oh, Alice...and it's a rather LARGE and generous portion! We are thrilled to welcome CLEAR AND SIMPLE STAMPS as our sponsor this week! The fabulous prize? A whopping $25 Gift Certificate to the Clear and Simple Stamps Store! An evening with the ARTS

Last night was my monthly ATC meeting. Instead of our usual meeting at a local stamp store our host Lauri had us over the her St. Paul home. We had soooo much FUN, I don't know where to begin. I consider myself a crafter but really wish I was an artist. Lauri is an ARTIST. Her home is just what you would imagine an artist home would look like. You could look around for hours noticing something different all the time. Lauri does some amazing things with different mediums, you can see some of her work at her blog here. I just loved learning about new techniques and mediums. Once the sun went down we moved into the living room for hot tea, cookies, and ATC swapping. We could have talked all night, it was a great time. Donna and I are trying to talk Lauri into having an art night once a month so we can come play with all her goodies. Thanks again Lauri, you made my week.

This is the table of fabric dye in squirt bottles. Look at all the beautiful colors! We dipped watercolor paper in water then added our dye. Then added wildflowers and leafs out of Lauri's yard to make prints. Below is what they looked like after removing the leaves this morning.

Donna working hard on her creation. These are Tjaps from Bali that are over 100 years old. Lauri had the most amazing collection of them. They were originally used for batik. We stamped them on fabric and painted the images.
We also used stencils and texture plates on fabric with Shiva paint sticks. Lauri's studio Some of Lauri's art on the walls.

Earth Day ATC

Spoiler Alert: If your in my ATC group and don't want to see my ATC until the meeting look away now!

This months theme is recycling. It doesn't have to be about recycling, but the challenge is to recycle something to use on your ATC. I recycled Caribou Coffee sleeves and stir sticks, and a red mesh fruit bag. I painted the stir sticks and dabbed paint on the top layer of my flower petals. Then I cut up the mesh bad and tied it around the stick. This was a fun challenge and makes you look at everyday item differently.

Oh, Alice Chapter 9: Somewhere in the Sunny, Sketchy, Afternoon

CHAPTER 9: Somewhere in the Sunny, Sketchy, Afternoon...
Alice in Wonderland, how do you get to Wonderland?
Over the hill or underland, or just behind the tree?
When clouds go rolling by, they roll away and leave the sky.
Where is the land beyond the eye, that people can not see, where can it be?
Where do stars go, where is the crescent moon?
They must be somewhere in the sunny afternoon.
Alice in Wonderland, where is the path to Wonderland?
Over the hill or here or there, I wonder where.

Oh, Alice Chapter 8: You can learn a lot of things from the FLOWERS

CHAPTER 8: You can learn a lot of things from the FLOWERS...
Never mind!' Alice said in a soothing tone, and stooping down to the daisies, who were just beginning again, she whispered, `If you don't hold your tongues, I'll pick you!'

There was silence in a moment, and several of the pink daisies turned white.

`That's right!' said the Tiger-lily. `The daisies are worst of all. When one speaks, they all begin together, and it's enough to make one wither to hear the way they go on!'

`How is it you can all talk so nicely?' Alice said, hoping to get it into a better temper by a compliment. `I've been in many gardens before, but none of the flowers could talk.'
Hello everyone! What a sweet, sunny sign of Spring it is when all of our floral friends come out to play! At the Oh, Alice! Blog, we definitely agree with Alice that you can learn a lot of things from the flowers! This week's challenge? You got it! USE FLOWERS on your card or project!
We have ANOTHER generous prize to give away this week! We at Oh, Alice are just floored at the outpouring of generosity from these wonderful companies and are thrilled to announce that this week's prize is being donated by STAMPOTIQUE!
