Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone, and Happy Birthday Mom.  We have had a busy holiday weekend.  It all started with Pea's pre-school party on Friday, then the community party on Saturday, and the neighborhood party today.  I guess we got our wear out of the costume this year.
Pea took her Daddy trick-or-treating this year.  At first she wanted me to go, but then she saw Daddy's costume.  It scared her to death, then she thought it was cool and kept playing with the mask that has blood that drips down the front of the skull when you squeeze the hidden pump inside.  One of her friends went door to door with them but kept her distance from him.  She wasn't to sure about him in that mask.  I handed out candy, and had a good turn out.  Bella enjoyed seeing all the kids and getting petted.
Here are our pumpkins for this year.  Pea was very proud of her wolf even if she didn't have anything to do with the carving.
Well tomorrow starts the decoration change out to Thanksgiving.  Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner?  Hubby's parents are coming this week to visit, so I will be busy getting ready for that.  Then I have a week off before my brother-in-law comes for a few weeks for Thanksgiving.  Our house is a revolving door until the snow falls.  I promise to get some crafting in somewhere.

Oh, Alice CHAPTER 37: Halloween in WONDERLAND...

Hey everyone!
We have a "just for fun" post today here in Wonderland that doesn't follow a book excerpt or poem...just a good ol' fashioned HALLOWEEN theme!

Well, tomorrow is Halloween and it's time to showcase some fun projects, and many of us are using the Graphic 45 special line of papers, Halloween in Wonderland!

For my card I used the Graphic 45 designer paper Halloween in Wonderland.  I distressed the edges and scuffed them with black ink.  The sketch I used is from Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #97.  I curled the corner of one of the papers and pinned it up with a black brad.  On the tag I used Tim Holtz Distress Stickles in Shabby Shutter on the leaves of the pumpkin vine and the ribbon on her hat applying it with a paint brush.  For a little more shine I added Smooch in Illuminate to the pumpkins and topped it all off with some black and orange lace.
We really hope you enjoy our projects today and that you feel like playing along! Today our VERY generous DT member Ky is offering up a set of Alice stamps by Elaine Cox!

Well, it's time to get ghoulish here in Wonderland! Play along with us using the InLinkz at Oh, Alice and you have until Friday, November 5th at 8pm CST to do so! We can't WAIT to see your fang-tastic Halloween creations, everyone ;) Good luck and thanks for tuning in, as always!

All My Halloween Dreams Came True

This year all my Halloween dreams came true.  My 5 year old wanted to be Dorothy for Halloween.  I didn't even force the issue.  At first she said she wanted to be a skeleton but then she saw the red sparkly shoes at Target.  You know nothing can come between a girl and a great pair of shoes.  I told her I wanted her to be whatever she wanted to be and she chose Dorothy.  Score one for Mom!  Well today was her party at pre-school.  When I arrived the TA told me she asked her what she was going to be and Pea replied "I'm going to be Dorothy, and make all my mom's dreams come true!" in a very dramatic way.  So here is a picture to melt any Wizard of Oz fans heart.  We had to put long underwear under the costume since it's so cold here already.

Having a Spooktacular Halloween

Are you ready for Halloween?  I think I'm almost there.  The weather has taken a turn so I think I will have to go get some white long underwear for Pea's costume.  We purchased the candy this weekend.  I think it was around 10 bags (lets see how much of the chocolate makes it to Sunday).  We also made Halloween cookies this weekend.
I'm still finding food coloring around the kitchen.  Pea is already planning the Thanksgiving cookies.

Here is my card today.  It is for 4 challenges.
1)  Friday Sketches #125

2)  Club Anya and Friends - color pencil challenge
3)  Crazy for Challenges - Halloween
4)  Anyone for Anya - Halloween

Stamp:  TGF Spooktacular

Give Thanks Banner

At our monthly ATC club meeting this month Jan hosted and had give thanks banners for us to work on.  We got it started that night with instructions to finish it at home and show our work.  I changed mine up a little (like I always do).  Well I finished mine on Sunday and have already mailed it off to my Mom as part of her birthday.

Oh, Alice CHAPTER 36: CHESS - CHESSBOARD - CHESSMEN

"They don't keep this room so tidy as the other,' Alice thought to herself, as she noticed several of the chessmen down in the hearth among the cinders: but in another moment, with a little `Oh!' of surprise, she was down on her hands and knees watching them. The chessmen were walking about, two and two!

`Here are the Red King and the Red Queen,' Alice said (in a whisper, for fear of frightening them), `and there are the White King and the White Queen sitting on the edge of the shovel -- and here are two castles walking arm in arm..."

--Ch. 1: Through the Looking Glass

The challenge this week at Oh, Alice is again the brainchild of DT member Lynne-to use some aspect of the game of chess! You might want to use a checkerboard pattern, or feature a King, Queen, Knight or Castle (Rook), or some other aspect of the game we haven't thought of - we just need to be able to clearly see CHESS in your creation!

We are THRILLED to announce that there's a prize this week, too! Thanks to our generous sponsor, PAPER MANIAC, this week, they are giving away a set of Artistic Outpost Alice in Wonderland mini-stamps AND a sheet of E.A.D. Designs Stickerz! How awesome is that?

Make sure you check out Oh, Alice for some inspiration from the DT, or you can check them out from the direct links on my sidebar.

I kept it simple this week.  The designer paper is Jackpot from Stampin Up.  I used Quickutz Chess Pieces die and Nesties Classic Squares Lg & Sm.

Checkmate! Have YOU met your match? You have until FRIDAY, October 29th to enter your creation and throw your hat (or should I say, crown?) in the ring for this awesome PAPER MANIAC prize this week! We'll announce the winner her in Wonderland during our next challenge!

See you soon!

Oh Alice CHAPTER 35: Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Wonderland's Door

"Alice laughed so much at this, that she had to run back into the wood for fear of their hearing her; and when she next peeped out the Fish-Footman was gone, and the other was sitting on the ground near the door, staring stupidly up into the sky.

Alice went timidly up to the door, and knocked.

`There's no sort of use in knocking,' said the Footman, `and that for two reasons. First, because I'm on the same side of the door as you are; secondly, because they're making such a noise inside, no one could possibly hear you.' And certainly there was a most extraordinary noise going on within--a constant howling and sneezing, and every now and then a great crash, as if a dish or kettle had been broken to pieces.

`Please, then,' said Alice, `how am I to get in?' ~Chapter 6, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Hey everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Wonderland and we are BACK with another challenge!
Have you ever felt like Alice? Not sure which door, window, or keyhole will be opened or closed next? Not sure which direction you're going but curiouser and curiouser about them all?

What a PERFECT opportunity to explore some new avenues, and walk through new doors we bring you at Oh, Alice this week. Thats right! Your challenge this week is to create a card or project using a Door, Gate, or Keyhole. Now, you can also get creative and do a gatefold technique, etc. As long as we can see it's a "Gatefold" or that there is a door, gate, or keyhole somewhere on your project! How FUN is this?

The best part? There's no time limit to play this week, so have fun and here's to opening lots of new doors in the future!

For this challenge I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #95 for the layout.  I colored my image with color pencils.  The designer paper is from October Afternoon's Farm Fresh line.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Costumes from Wonderland.

I got another scrapbook page done.  Crazy, I know.  I'm entering this in The Pink Elephant challenge #25.  The challenge was to use "The Color Aqua, Designer Paper & Embellishment of your Choice".  I apologize for my poor photography, not sure how to best photograph a double page layout.

A Scrappy Fall Farm Fresh Friday Challenge

I have a scrapbook page for you today.  Shocking, I know.  The Greeting Farm is having a fall page challenge, so I dug through my photos from last Halloween.  I thought the little mummy on Pea's shirt looked like the mummy in the Spooktacular set.  Do you like my mummy on the bottom of the page.  I used a vintage pillow case that had been washed so many times it was falling apart.  It is so soft.  I just ripped it into about 3/4" pieces.  I had a fun time with this page.  I love getting to jump into my big box of Halloween goodies to find all the little embellishments.

Oh, Alice CHAPTER 34: A Mad Tea-Party

`And ever since that,' the Hatter went on in a mournful tone, `he won't do a thing I ask! It's always six o'clock now.'
A bright idea came into Alice's head. `Is that the reason so many tea-things are put out here?' she asked.

`Yes, that's it,' said the Hatter with a sigh: `it's always tea-time, and we've no time to wash the things between whiles.'

`Then you keep moving round, I suppose?' said Alice.

`Exactly so,' said the Hatter: `as the things get used up.'

`But what happens when you come to the beginning again?' Alice ventured to ask.

~Chapter 7, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Awesome Wonderland greetings to all!
Can you believe summer is fairly over and the southern half of our planet is heading into spring? It's time to change from iced teas over to hot teas. I love autumn and all the wonderful warm drinks, wonderful sweaters and gorgeous colors it brings. Spring is my second favorite season, and still a wonderful time for tea! In Wonderland, it was perpetually tea time and I could live that life for a long, long time!

Your challenge this week is to explore things that could make up your tea-time activity. Use tea bag folding in the construction of your project. This is a great resource: Tea Bag Folding. Anything relating to time would pair perfectly with this challenge, but isn't a requirement! Show us your fab folding abilities, doing it Alice-style!

Check out these delectable samples from the Twisted Thirteen at Oh Alice or from my sidebar.

This card was a lot of fun to work on.  I love to try new techniques so when Ky told us we needed to use tea bag folding I was really excited.  It's fun and easy, and you can do it while you watch TV.  I would recommend you use a thinner paper than I did.  This Graphic 45 paper is very thick and was a little harder to fold.  I stacked my 3 folded medallions on top of each other and used a threaded button for the center.  It reminded me of a spider web so I added the little spider in the corner.
DP: Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland
Border Punch:  MS Spider Web
Tea Bag Folds:  Kite Fold, Arrow Fold, Waterbomb Fold.
You have until midnight Central time on Friday, October 15th to complete your project and link it up to the Oh Alice Challenge blog. You don't want to miss out on your chance of wining a 6x6 pad of Basic Grey papers! The clock is ticking - don't be Late for TEA!

A Camping We Will Go

I promised pictures from our fall camping trip to Temperance River State Park.

Pea getting ready to start the hike to the top of Carlton Peak on the Superior Hiking Trail.  This was her longest hike ever, almost 4 miles by the time we got back to the car.  She did pretty good, only a few complaints on the way back down.  She did stop other hikers to tell them that she was having a fight with her mother.  One lady said told her she has the same problem at times.
Pea and Bella taking a break in the fall leaves.

Heading to the top.

A view from the top.

We saw lots of mushrooms, but these where the biggest.
Some Fall Color
Bella Blue

I just love this photo because it shows Bella's sweet little noodle and her kissing spot in the middle.
