I've have a secret I can finally let you in on! I'M A PIXIE DUST PIXIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's right, they have asked me to join their design team. I'm very excited to get to work with Pixie Dust Studio and the fabulous team of designers they have assembled. I hope you will come check out the store and blog, and of course the challenge blog. Stay tuned, I will have my first design team card to post tomorrow.
"Alice crouched down among the trees as well as she could, for her neck kept getting entangled among the branches, and every now and then she had to stop and untwist it. After a while she remembered that she still held the pieces of mushroom in her hands, and she set to work very carefully, nibbling first at one and then at the other, and growing sometimes taller and sometimes shorter, until she had succeeded in bringing herself down to her usual height.
It was so long since she had been anything near the right size, that it felt quite strange at first; but she got used to it in a few minutes, and began talking to herself, as usual. `Come, there's half my plan done now! How puzzling all these changes are! I'm never sure what I'm going to be, from one minute to another!"
-- Chapter 5, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Well, just like Alice we have been through quite a few changes! But our familiar Alice challenges have arrived safely in at their new home although in a new monthly form.
To reflect all these changes, the challenge is to make something that features a dress form, OR to make something that changes in form! While it is not required that your project include Alice in Wonderland, we do encourage it. If your project features Wonderland you will get two chances in the prize drawing instead of one, and what a prize it is!
Now let me explain how this new monthly challenge works:
•1st Sunday of the month: The new challenge will be posted with the link tool, and a few of the design team samples will be posted.
•2nd Sunday: Additional design team samples will be posted.
•3rd Sunday: The last of the design team samples will be posted.
•Last Sunday of the month: A winner will be announced and some of your projects may be given an "honorable mention".
We are starting a week early with the February challenge because we didn't want to leave you with a gap, so we will spread the design team samples over four weeks and the winner will be announced on February 27th. You have a whole month to submit your creations, so we are hoping that a lot more of you will decide to play along!
Enter your links on The Altered Alice before 8 p.m. EST (GMT - 5) on Friday, February 25th. A winner will be announced on Sunday, February 27th. Check back at The Altered Alice each Sunday between now and then for more inspiration!
I have a funny story for you today. This morning I took my 5 year old to the kindergarten open house so she could see what the class rooms look like. She was very into the tour and made sure she was the first in line so she could chat up the teacher giving the tour. At one point they took the kids into the nurses office and explained that if you didn't feel good or got hurt the nurse would take care of you there. She took a look around at the little beds, looked up at the teacher and asked, "Do you have room service here?". You would think see was accustom to the Ritz the way she said it.
Just a little love card today to cover 3 challenges. Enjoy!
The Oh, Alice Design Team is featured today on Nikki Sivils. Nikki Sivils sent use a goodie box of 2 of their lines and we each made several challenge projects with our yummy swag. Go check us out and leave some love.
Tomorrow is my monthly ATC club meeting and our theme was anything goes. I made these funny ATC with There She Goes ROFL Taglines set. While I had everything out and coordinated I thought I would make a card for the There She Goes sketch challenge.
I made this card for my friends birthday this week. I love how the colors from the Pink Elephant Pink, Orange, and Aqua Challenge really made it pop. I used the sketch from the DeNami Sketch Challenge #06. All the stamps are from DeNami but the sentiment from A Muse. I used My Mind's Eye So Sophie designer paper. What are the chances that I had one sheet just the right colors. The embossing folder is Cuttlebug Preserves and the border punch Martha Stewart Cupcakes. Lots of Copic coloring and volla!
Today is a BITTERSWEET...although MOSTLY sweet post for Oh, Alice.
Oh, Alice will be closing it's doors this week, but will return next week as The Altered Alice, a blog that our Twisted Thirteen member Lynne Phelps has started and will continue on from here. There is nothing to fear! The Altered Alice will still be bringing you FABULOUS challenges, lovely excerpts from our beloved chapters that tell us so much about Alice's world, and we have alerted our sponsors about the new Blog name and format, so hopefully you'll see some familiar faces VERY soon!
"In Wonderland, Alice learned that everything changes so the important thing is to be true to yourself. That is true for the Alice in Wonderland challenges as well, which will be changing and growing in new directions under the next Mad Hatter, our own design team member Lynne Phelps. The Oh, Alice! challenges will now be hosted on her Alice in Wonderland artwork blog, The Altered Alice (link: http://alteredalice.blogspot.com). You will find our same familiar challenge Chapters but they will be in a new monthly form, beginning on the first Sunday of the month and posting the winner on the last Sunday of the month. The design team will provide weekly project posts to inspire you along the way! "
Let's get to this week's CHALLENGE:
This week's mission is to travel "Back down the Rabbit Hole" challenge-back to the beginning-Create a HELLO card (for OR a "Goodbye" card-it's all about what it looks like on the other side of that Looking Glass, right?
The DT has once again been blessed with a WONDERFUL assortment of Nikki Sivils papers and embellishments to work with as Nikki has graciously supplied the DT with, as well as a WONDERFUL prize pack for ONE lucky winner (winner will be announced next week on the Altered Alice challenge Blog and also you must link your creations THERE.
In addition to creating a HELLO or GOODBYE card and entering it over at The Altered Alice, the NEW Alice in Wonderland Challenge Blog, don't forget to "FOLLOW" the new "Altered Alice" blog where next week's challenge AND the winner of the last Nikki giveaway will be drawn!
One more scrapbook page to hold you over until my Oh, Alice post tomorrow. Sorry for the poor photo, I wish I had a scanner that would fit a 12X12. The tickets were made with the Tim Holtz ticket die and the ticket stamps are also Tim Holtz.
I've been a bad blogger the past week. I have been crafting but making scrapbook pages instead of cards. I want to refocus on my scrapbooking this year and try to get caught up. Then maybe get to the stack of unfinished projects that haunt me until I give up and get rid of them. Until I have more cards to show I will try to fill in with a scrapbook page.
This is what happens when you leave my husband unattended with temporary tattoos. Like the tramp stamp? My poor baby.
"Hush-a-by lady, in Alice's lap! Till the feast's ready, we've time for a nap. When the feast's over, we'll go to the ball - Red Queen, and White Queen, and Alice, and all!" ~ "Queen Alice", Through The Looking-Glass
We here at Oh Alice, hereby cordially invite you to meet Iracebeth the Red Queen of Crims and Mirana the White Queen. Iracebeth and Mirana are sisters who couldn't be more different: while the White Queen is kind and gentle and is loved by everyone, the Red Queen's answer to everything is "Off with their heads!"
To honor our Royal Highnesses, we challenge you to choose which Royal Court you would want to have rule over you, the Red Queen's or the White Queen's???
So the challenge this week, if you should choose to accept it, is to create a card/project that is either mostly white or mostly red.
"The Baby Bud illustrations you see in the shop have been drawn ‘free hand’ by the artist and owner, Mary Anne Wainright. There is never any computer re-imaging involved. Their quirky little imperfections are what make them original, unique and whimsical and reminds the viewer that they were created from the heart."
For my card I used a layout I saw in my last issue on PaperCrafts magazine. I colored my little lady bug with Copic markers. The designer paper is from Papertrey (2008 Bitty Box Basic, Distressed Dots). The sentiment is from Stampendous. I also used Spellbinders Nesties Labels Four. I'm also entering this in Pile It On's Cute Kids Challenge.
You have until Friday, January 21st, 8pm CST to submit your creations using the linky tool below. We look forward to seeing which Queen will win!
`Oh, I've had such a curious dream!' said Alice, and she told her sister, as well as she could remember them, all these strange Adventures of hers that you have just been reading about; and when she had finished, her sister kissed her, and said, `It WAS a curious dream, dear, certainly: but now run in to your tea; it's getting late.' So Alice got up and ran off, thinking while she ran, as well she might, what a wonderful dream it had been. -- Chapter 12, Alice in Wonderland
I hope you have some wonderful holiday dreams to remember! We are still locked in winter in the northern hemisphere, and that makes me think of an icy blue color scheme - after all, there is even a color called "Alice blue" since she is traditionally illustrated with a blue dress! It is also time to start scrapping those Christmas and New Year memories!
Our generous sponsor, Nikki Sivils, is offering a huge prize to help you capture those memories! One randomly drawn winner will receive a 6x6 inch pad, 12x12 inch designer paper, and burlap covered buttons from the Happy Holly-Days Collection!
So the challenge this week, should you choose to accept it, is to share something that helps you capture your holiday memories, like a layout, mini-album or picture holder of some kind, OR to use an icy blue color scheme!
The design team this week will be showing off some fabulous paper from our generous sponsor, Nikki Sivils. They will be using the wonderful "Something for Everyone" collection in beautiful Alice blue or the Happy Holly-Days collection. Take a look! You can see them all at Oh, Alice or link to each members blog from my sidebar.
I made a scrapbook page for my project. I got myself a sewing machine for Christmas and this is the first time I used it. I used a zigzag stitch to make a quilt of all the different papers in the Happy Holly-Days collection. Then I cut out the large holly leaves from Deck the Holly paper and popped them up.

You have until Friday, January 14th, 8 p.m. CST to submit your creations using the link tool at Oh, Alice. Remember you can either share a holiday memory or use an icy blue color scheme, so show us your stuff and one luck winner will walk away with the prize pack from Nikki Sivils!
One birthday party down, and one to go. Here is the card for party number 2 of the week. If this keeps up I'll be present broke soon. I used the Club Anya and Friends Case the Card Challenge for my layout and added some butterflies for the Flutter by Wednesday Challenge. It's a little hard to see in the picture but the flower has a yellow and pink felt flower in the center.
We hope that you are enjoying a little hiatus from the hustle and bustle of Christmas and New Year's and cannot WAIT to resume our challenge on January 8th! 2011 is going to be bringing you some EXCITING new themes, challenges, guest Designers, and TONS of new sponsorships thanks to my awesome coordinators, Margie and Tasha!
I want to thank EVERYONE for their support of Oh, Alice as we are coming up on a year of challenges-I cannot BELIEVE IT! It wouldn't be possible without you and without my AMAZINGLY TWISTED team :)
On that note, we are just stopping by today with a note of THANKS for all of our valued players and sponsors!!
All of our projects today are done using NIKKI SIVILS papers and embellishments...and not only are we SO grateful for that, we are THRILLED to announce that NIKKI SIVILS will be our first sponsor of 2011 and we have a HUGE surprise for you all NEXT WEEK, right here at Oh, ALICE!
Stay tuned and until then, please accept our SINCERE thanks:
For my card and used one of the Nikki Sivils Something for Everyone stickers for image background. After stamping my image I punched it out and mounted it on the sticker. How easy can it get? This is a small card so I thought the small snowman would be cute. I added the snow on the ground with a Copic Multiliner and added some glitter. The snowflakes on the border also have glitter.
