Pixie Dust Studio Sneak Peak: MOONBEAM!!!

It's sneak peak time again!  The latest collection MOONBEAM will be released on March 1st at the Pixie Dust Studio Store.

Copic:  BV0000, 000, 00, 11

V93, 95, 99
E41, 42, 43
glitter
DP:  Basic Grey Kioshi
Embossing Folder:  Sizzix Birthday Set 2

This is Moonbeam the Unicorn.  Isn't he sweet?  I know a lot of little girls that would love a birthday card with sparkly cutie.  My inspiration for the layout came from the Case Study Challenge #28 (CSC28).  I colored with Copic markers and popped up his nose with pop dots.  All the blue areas are covered in glitter for that magical feel.  The border is a new toy I got from Papertrey called Edgers 2.
Travel down the streets of Pixie Dust Studio and visit our talented Pixies to see some great designs with this newest collection!!

Pixie Dust Studio Challenge #63 Vacation Time

This weeks challenge at Pixie Dust Studio is to create a card/project using Summer colors and/or elements (beach, water, etc.).

This designer paper reminded me of a print from Lily Pulitzer when she ran her juice stand.
To make the wood on my stand I printed my image on craft paper then embossed it with the Tim Holtz Woodgrain embossing folder and scuffed it with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

Tuesday Scrapbook Page

Sorry for being a bad blogger.  My 5 year old came home from school last week with a stomach bug and decided she needed to share it with me.  I spent Friday night and the entire weekend in bed or on the couch.  I'm a big slug and didn't get anything accomplished so now I'm really behind.  Then on Sunday we got 14 inches of snow, so I didn't go anywhere yesterday either.  I have a little cabin fever so I think we are headed to Target today.

So here is a scrapbook page to hold you over.

The Altered Alice - CHAPTER 1 : Changing Form / Feb. 2011 Challenge - Week 4

"Alice crouched down among the trees as well as she could, for her neck kept getting entangled among the branches, and every now and then she had to stop and untwist it. After a while she remembered that she still held the pieces of mushroom in her hands, and she set to work very carefully, nibbling first at one and then at the other, and growing sometimes taller and sometimes shorter, until she had succeeded in bringing herself down to her usual height.

It was so long since she had been anything near the right size, that it felt quite strange at first; but she got used to it in a few minutes, and began talking to herself, as usual. `Come, there's half my plan done now! How puzzling all these changes are! I'm never sure what I'm going to be, from one minute to another!"

-- Chapter 5, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Well, just like Alice we have been through quite a few changes! But our familiar Alice challenges have arrived safely in at their new home although in a new monthly form.

To reflect all these changes, the challenge is to make something that features a dress form, OR to make something that changes in form! While it is not required that your project include Alice in Wonderland, we do encourage it. If your project features Wonderland you will get two chances in the prize drawing instead of one, and what a prize it is!
STAMPOTIQUE ORIGINALS is sponsoring our first challenge with a generous $30 gift certificate, and their fabulous design team is going to play along!

Now let me explain how this new monthly challenge works:
•1st Sunday of the month: The new challenge will be posted with the link tool, and a few of the design team samples will be posted.
•2nd Sunday: Additional design team samples will be posted.
•3rd Sunday: The last of the design team samples will be posted.
•Last Sunday of the month: A winner will be announced and some of your projects may be given an "honorable mention".

We are starting a week early with the February challenge because we didn't want to leave you with a gap, so we will spread the design team samples over four weeks and the winner will be announced on February 27th. You have a whole month to submit your creations, so we are hoping that a lot more of you will decide to play along!

Enter your links on The Altered Alice before 8 p.m. EST (GMT - 5) on Friday, February 25th. A winner will be announced on Sunday, February 27th. Check back at The Altered Alice each Sunday between now and then for more inspiration!

Pixie Dust Studio: Have a Ball Sneak Peak

It's day 2 of the Pixie Dust Sneak Peaks.  Tomorrow the whole collection will be available to you here
For my project today I used Belle of the Ball.  I loved the masquerade mask she is holding and thought I would make my own.  I found the template here. I traced it onto green glittered cardstock and cut it out.  I found a bag of feathers are Michaels in just the Mardi Gras colors of green, gold, and purple (purple represents justice; green, faith; and gold, power).  The bling around the edges also came from Michaels on a spool like ribbon.  The stick is a dowel rod cut in half and covered in yellow ribbon.  The purple streamers are attached to the top of the stick.  I colored Belle with Copic markers and attached her with foam tape.

Let the Sneak Peeks begin!!!

Pixie Dust Studio is super excited about this next collection. It is Have a Ball and well, if you can not guess you will have a ball creating with them.  I thought of Mardi Gras as soon as I saw the images.  I love New Orleans and really miss living in a part of the country that celebrates it.  This time of year I always get a craving for some Cajun food.  I really could go for a shrimp po boy right now.

So here is my "Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler" card. (pronounced: Lay say lay bohn tohn roo lay)  That is Cajun French for "Let the good times roll!".  I used the sketch from the I (heart) 2 Stamp February challenge.
Digi Image:  Jingles the Jester

Bright Cheeky Glamour Girl

I'm typing with my fingers crossed today.  My computer is having some MAJOR problems and I've been trying to fix it all day.  It was fine yesterday, but today it's moving at dial up pace and crashing constantly.  My computer is really old and I've had to bring it back from the brink many times before.  The old girl has seen better days.  So if I go missing you know why.  I better post this card before something else happens.

You have a whole month to submit your creations, so we are hoping that a lot more of you will decide to play along!

Here are my creations:

I made a card and a scrapbook page with the same materials on both.  Why reinvent the wheel, right?  My inspirations started with the Hambly Couture paper I found in my stash.  That set the color story for my project.  I love this striking ribbon from Stampin Up and thought it would add a bold look.  The polka dot paper is October Afternoon Thrift Shop.  The stamp was a birthday gift from a friend, it's a new set from Close to my Heart called Find Your Style.  A little charcoal twine from The Twinery and a button to finish it off.

For my scrapbook page I also used the Martha Stewart Loops punches.  The banner is from Jenni Bowlin.  Just apply the ledger banner stickers to the chipboard banner and add the twine.  Behind my dress form is some bits and pieces and a Jenni Bowlin Apothecary Sticker.  I stitched a circle and added a few buttons and an old piece of seam binding with a stick pin.  I also reached into my vintage lace and ribbon for the lace behind the bow and the black twill tape between the designer paper and the loops punch.  I used wide red line tape to gather the striped ribbon on the bottom.
